KING ROPES:

Super Natural, King Ropes’ fifth album, is full of open spaces and jagged edges. Guitars scrape and whine. Amps rumble. Rickety pianos rattle in and out of tune. Like Montana, the band’s home, nothing is too refined. At the center of it all is singer and frontman Dave Hollier, a gifted songwriter at the top of his game, surveying a land haunted by doomed relationships and hypocrite ideologues in his odd, quivering voice. The songs convey a world that is remarkably gorgeous but also harsh and unforgiving, dark and foreboding.

BLUEST:

Bluest is an indie rock band out of Missoula MT, orchestrated by the longings and haMT KUSH of Noelle Huser. Her songs walk the knife edge of nostalgic confession, using that edge to cut through the assumption that softness is weak. Her anger pleas with an earnest empathy a la diary-scrawled lyrics that pay homage to 90s/00s angst pop and country influences like Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow. Bluest’s debut album Cold Sweat, sifts through dreams and nightmares to find solace by serenading ghosts, emboldened with a hunger to return from dissociation back into the body. Huser finds her head in the clouds, heart on her sleeve and feet on the ground running into the unknown.
